Japanese billionaire Yusaku Maezawa who is set to take a private SpaceX flight for a trip around the moon has just announced his crew after a worldwide search for creative individuals last year.
American DJ Steve Aoki and Korean star TOP are the most high-profile picks among others.
According to the BBC, the flight which is scheduled for next year may just be the first lunar journey by humans since 1972.
The proposed fly-by would see a spacecraft circle the moon, coming within 200km (124 miles) of the surface. The trip would take eight days from launch to return.
However, US regulators are yet to give approval to the Starship rocket belonging to Elon Musk’s SpaceX company which completed a test launch last year, for the crew’s intended journey.
Considering that Maezawa has made no indication of a possible delay in his recent video announcement, it is safe to say, everything is on the right track.
Maezawa, who made his fortune with the online fashion retailer Zozo, has become prominently involved in commercial space travel. Last year he went to the International Space Station on a Russian rocket for 12 days.
