Mr. Nihal Weeraratne, President of the Engineers Association of Ceylon Electricity Board, has said today (20) that after the country’s coal stock is exhausted on the 31st of this month, the three generators of the ‘Lakwijaya’ power plant in Norochchole will be shut down and after that, there will be a power cut for 10 hours.
Mr. Nihal Weeraratne said that since the water level in the hydroelectric power plants has decreased to 75 percent, it is uncertain whether the hydroelectric power will reach its maximum capacity in the next few months, and because of this the country may be inoperable.
