Low-pressure in Bay of Bengal likely to intensify in to a depression

The Department of Meteorology says the low-pressure area over South West Bay of Bengal is likely to intensify in to a depression during next two days.

It is likely to move northwestward towards the North-eastern coast of Sri Lanka during next few days.

The Met Department said accordingly, several spells of showers will occur in the Northern, Eastern, Uva and North-Central provinces.

It added showers or thundershowers can be expected at several places elsewhere during the afternoon or night.

Meanwhile, the general public has been requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
