Eggs to be sold for Rs.55 each in Colombo & Gampaha

Eggs will be sold for Rs.55 each today at 20 locations in Colombo and Gampaha.

The move comes following discussions held between Minister Mahinda Amaraweera and several egg producers’ associations on Monday (26) pertaining to selling eggs at the lowest possible price due to the exponential increase in egg prices.

Accordingly, the associations agreed to sell an egg for Rs.55.

Egg producers therefore resorted to measures to deploy 20 lorries to sell eggs at several locations around Colombo and in Gampaha.

Lorries will be stationed in urban areas such as the Colombo Fort Railway Station, Dematagoda, Slave Island, Dehiwala, Battaramulla, Nugegoda, Maharagama, Meegoda and Narahenpita Economic Centres, the junction adjacent to the State Rupavahini Corporation and in Homagama.

Eggs will be sold in similar fashion from lorries in Wattala, Ja-Ela, Ragama, Negombo, Kiribathgoda, Kadawatha, and Peliyagoda.
