China-Pakistan together, planning single front war, Rahul Gandhi tells Army veterans

Amid row over Rahul Gandhi’s ‘pitai’ remark that China thrashed Indian soldiers in Arunachal, Rahul Gandhi said India’s situation is extremely vulnerable and China and Pakistan are together.

By India Today Web Desk: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi recently said that China and Pakistan are preparing together and if there is a war, then it will be against both countries.

In a conversation with Army veterans, the Congress scion said, “China and Pakistan are together and are planning a ‘surprise’ for India.”

In a YouTube video released on Rahul Gandhi’s channel on Sunday, he said, “India’s border situation is linked with the international situation and the border situation is changing… We used to have two enemies – China and Pakistan – and our policy was to keep them separate.”

“China and Pakistan have become one and if a war breaks out, it will not just be with one, but with both. The country will suffer a huge setback. India is now extremely vulnerable,” Gandhi said in the five-minute video.

Rahul Gandhi added that this was the idea behind the foreign policy. “When Rajiv Gandhi ji went there, he also tried that these two (Pakistan and China) do not get together. Earlier, people used to say there should be no two-front war. Then came the concept of a two-and-a-half-front war — China, Pakistan and terrorism,” Rahul Gandhi said.

“Now there is only one front because China and Pakistan are together not only militarily but economically as well,” Rahul Gandhi said while adding the examples of Gwadar and the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

While interacting with the Army veterans, Gandhi further took a dig at India’s economy and said, “China’s economic system is advancing very fast while our economic situation is going downhill after 2014.”

In the video, Rahul Gandhi is also seen expressing his respect and love for the Indian Army. “I don’t just have respect for you but also love and affection for you. You defend this nation. This nation would not exist without you,” he said.

Rahul Gandhi’s statement comes amid a row over his earlier ‘pitai’ remark where he said Chinese soldiers thrashed Indian troops in Tawang on December 9.
