International tenders will be called today, January 9, to import eggs to meet current market demand.
The Sri Lanka State Trading Corporation has been given the authority to import eggs due to a resolution by the Cabinet of Ministers.
As a result, the Sri Lanka State Trading Corporation stated that it hoped to finish the tendering procedure, choose the importers, and determine the number of eggs to be imported this week.
The amount of eggs needed to meet the present demand is expected to be communicated to the firm by the government.
The Cabinet gave its consent on January 2 to a request made by the Minister of Trade to import eggs in light of the rise in costs and the lack of eggs on the market.
