The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has informed the Supreme Court it would refrain from imposing power cuts until the Supreme Court completes hearing the contempt of court application on the matter.
The Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka had filed the application as the CEB had disregarded a directive to refrain from imposing power cuts until the exams are over.
President’s Counsel Uditha Egalahewa appearing for the Ceylon Electricity Board made the assurance to the court and pointed out that during the said period no power outages will take place.
The application will be taken up for consideration at 11:30 am tomorrow (Jan 3).
