Over 2,000 affected by inclement weather

The number of persons affected by adverse weather conditions experienced across the country has increased to 2,111.

The Disaster Management Centre said 514 families in six districts have been affected by heavy rains and gusty winds in the past few days.

Meanwhile, two persons have died while seven others have sustained injuries due to inclement weather.

Two more persons are reported missing, according to the latest report by the DMC.

It added one house has been destroyed while 130 other houses have been damaged due to bad weather in the past couple of days.

Meanwhile, the Department of Meteorology predicts several spells of showers in the Northern, North-Central and Eastern provinces today.

The Met Department said showers or thundershowers can also be expected in a few places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-Western provinces during the afternoon or night.

Meanwhile, the general public has been requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
